Activity in the UK's construction industry has fallen to its lowest level in ten years, according to the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply, the second contraction for the industry for six years.

This bronze-clad extension to a Victorian house on Palmerston Road, in Rathmines by Boyd Cody Architects has won one of two special award from the Architect Association of Ireland.


It was described as "a bespoke Rolls Royce . . . that it is bordering on the bling” by Angela Rolfe, assistant principal architect with the Office of Public Works. “You are straying into Victoria Beckham territory, as far as I'm concerned", she added.

2008 to Reach Record High for Commercial
2008 is shaping up to be an all-time record year for office completions based on building projects already commenced, according to Dr John McCartney Head Economist at Lisney. “360,000 sq m of new office space has been built in Dublin since January 2007. This is equivalent to 12% of the total Dublin office stock, and is a huge amount of accommodation to come on-stream in just 15 months", he said.
