The revised proposals for the 2bn mixed used Bray Town Centre development have been given the go ahead by Bray and Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Councils.
The development comprises of retail, offices, and leisure facilities in a new town centre area, which includes a sea front residential neighbourhood and community lands, as part of the revised plans.
Developers behind the scheme, Pizarro Developments lodged a revised application in October 2007 to include provision for the Luas line, a GAA pitch and schools.
Other revisions include new internal roads, car park access, redesigned residential units and an increase in open space.
In addition, the scheme incorporates a public transport bridge to link to the proposed LUAS line and bus services to Bray DART station.
The town centre will incorporate shops, restaurants, apartments, public plazas and a central park.
The sea front residential neighbourhood comprises of 613 apartments, duplexes, community building, coffee shop, crθche and convenience store. Open space will be provided with a central village green, a linear seaside park and community park.
The community lands will accommodate a GAA playing pitch and two schools primary and secondary.
We are delighted with the decision to grant planning permission following a close consultation process. In addition to the positive impact that this development will have on the town of Bray it also has the ability to bringing over 60 million in wages annually into the local area and whilst employing over 2,500 people.
Building on this development is expected to start next year, commented Mary Bermingham, Project Manager, Pizarro Developments.
