"Be cool, See the Light" with 3M Window Films.
As the pioneers of window film, 3M are the market leaders in the field and hold the original patent for the product, which is built upon several core technologies.Although window film is huge in the US, it is still a new market here but a growing one thanks to world leaders 3M.
Their enormous range of products cater for all requirements including Anti theft, Solar control, Safety and Security protection, and their Prestige range which can boast recognition from the highest level in the US. Such is the reputation of 3M’s window film range, they were approached by the Clinton Foundation ran by ex President Bill Clinton, to supply window film to 40 of the world's largest cities at a reduced cost.
The Clinton Climate Initiative is a global agreement under which 3M will sell its energy-saving window film to 40 of the world’s largest cities (C40) at greater volumes and reduced costs, helping city buildings cut back on the energy they consume and associated carbon dioxide emissions. “It’s an enormous opportunity and one that we look forward to fulfilling” declares Mary Filan, Marketing Co-ordinator with 3M Ireland. “There are five window films that we will be supplying to the Climate Initiative and two of them are from our Prestige range.”

3M offer an enormous range of window films including Safety and Security film, Scotchshield TM Security film, Scotchtint Solar ControlTM film, Night Vision Film, Privacy films, and Glass Decorative Films to name but a few. Their benefits are endless and include enhanced solutions for Security, Building Management, increased Health and Safety, and increased privacy which in offices and commercial buildings can be particularly important. 3M window films also provide UV Protection blocking up to 99% indefinitely.
"In addition, our range of Scotchtint TM Solar control film allows for huge savings on energy consumption; Solar Heat gain can be reduced by up to 82%, glare can be reduced by up to 91% and our solar control film filters out approximately 99% of UV light which helps reduce the impact of fading. All these benefits of the film are vital for retail stores with window fronts and art galleries, museums and other such public buildings." “Facilities managers, architects, health and safety professionals as well as banks, art galleries, offices and commercial buildings are among our major customers and our solar film is also becoming more and more popular as issues of sustainability come to the fore”, according to Ms Filan.

Traditional window films use metal which causes reflectivity. |
3 M Prestige Film
The Prestige range is an industry first as it doesn’t affect the appearance of the window. Due to its non metallic properties it doesn’t result in tinting thus leaves a completely clear finish and without doubt leaves rival brands firmly in the shade.
Until recently, most window films that rejected heat were tinted dark and used metals. In addition to being highly reflective, these films were susceptible to corrosion. Because these unique films use no metals, they are the first clear films to offer a variety of selections that eliminate this problem and perform to the industry’s highest standards.

3M latest technology does not use metal leaving the appearance of your home unchanged. |
One of the major drawbacks of traditional window films is that they tended to act like mirrors. 3M‘s new Prestige Series which consists of four window films has substantially reduced reflectivity. This premium line offers two styles of window film that actually have less reflectivity than the glass they cover. In addition, these films reject up to 97% of the sun’s infrared light to help keep the building cool and lower energy bills. And unlike other films that can only achieve similar performance during the cool times of sunrise and sunset - these films are unsurpassed throughout the day and especially during periods of more direct sunlight.
