Where are you looking for growth at the moment?
Healthcare is an area that is growing significantly, both North and South of the border.
How is the global economic mood affecting the way you do business?
It’s a good thing and a bad thing insofar as people can become very conservative now and miss out on opportunities that’ll come down the line in two years time. So it’s not a time to pull down the shutters completely y’know.
Where would you like to see Elliot's in ten years time?
We’re going to move the company into the UK and we’ve made significant inroads into that over the last period of six months. We’re also going to continue to grow our building merchants’ side of the business. We have other new business ventures that we are going to be getting into in 08.
How has your relationship with subbies and suppliers changed in the last twleve months?
The market is like any family-tree – the pain goes downwards, but you have to be prepared to stick the heat in the kitchen. We would still keep an open mind to any supply chain that could convince us that they were up to the job. There’s a lot still out there but I do feel in the next six to eight months unfortunately there will be a few more casualties than one would like.
