CEMflex VB steel plate waterstop, A new definition of watertight construction joints
How CEMflex VB steel plate creates a reliable and permanent "active" waterproof seal!
The sealing effect of CEMflex VB steel plate is the result of the reaction between the different components of the patented coating and the components of concrete. Through osmosis, the process of crystallisation reaches deep into the concrete's capillary system. The combination of different components creates a process of crystallisation/sintering at a microscopic level within the structure of the concrete; this closes up capillaries and tiny fissures, and keeps moisture out. This process takes place both on the side exposed to water pressure and on the lee side. Without moisture, the components of this special layer are inactive or cease to be active. If they come into contact with moisture again, the chemical reaction recommences and the process of sealing the concrete is resumed. The crystallisation/sintering then reaches even more deeply into the concrete structure. One of the special characteristics of the chemicals in the special coating is that it can react and create a seal again and again (an "active self-sealing process").
The sealing effect of CEMflex VB steel plate has been proven at the MPA University Stuttgart and confirmed by obtaining abP approval [General building inspection test approval]. Furthermore the Cemflex VB has been tested by the independent, accredited laboratory for Concrete testing Vattenfall R&D AB. The results showed a satisfactory watertightness at a water pressure of 8 bar.
