An innovative piece of sprung polymer - Cavit-E Clip - can improve the build process and thermal performance of walls and roofs, reduce air leakage by up to 60% and create a useful service cavity, all whilst reducing installation costs. The product has been developed to further simplify the use and enhance the performance of Protect VC Foil highly reflective vapour control layer - already established in the market by exclusive Ireland distributor Richmond Building Products - and is proven to achieve effective reduction in heat flow through walls and roofs. The Protect VC Foil is positioned over the insulation, and Cavit-E clip simply clip-fixed onto the stud or rafter. Installed, Cavit-E Clip: - helps achieve an enhanced U value- of 0.25W/m2K when using 0.040W/m2K insulants in standard (140mm) timber frame wall construction and 0.23W/m2K in masonry walls - attains 0.2W/m2K in warm roofs, but with a reduction of 20mm in the insulation boards - creates a 20mm unventilated airspace which, when used with Protect VC Foil, helps improve the thermal performance of the wall and accelerates drying out time so reducing the overall build time without increasing the overall wall thickness; the unventilated airspace can be used as a service cavity it can reduce air leakage by 60% for SAP calculation purposes. The simple design of Cavit-E Clip reduces the reliance on stapling the vapour control layer in place, and significantly reduces the risk of compromising the integrity of the membrane. Supplied in handy 2.2m long sections, Cavit-E Clip is easily cut to length with conventional tools.
