| 1,800 builder jobs under BMG hospital plans
The Beacon Medical Group has been granted permission to construct a third private hospital in Ireland – resulting in the creation of over 1,800 construction jobs. |
|
| The hospital will feature 175 single rooms, six operating theatres, ambulatory surgery and full diagnostic facilities. It will provide services to both public and private patients.
Construction of the proposed facility is planned for completion within 24 months from the start date and is expected to generate 500 full-time construction workers, as well as a number of part-time positions. The group has now secured planning permission for three co-located hospitals, with the other two located at Mid-West Regional Hospital and Beaumont Hospital. The three facilities are expected to create over 1,820 construction jobs. |

| Michael Cullen, BMG CEO said: “We are delighted to have achieved planning permission for this important facility and look forward to working with Cork University Hospital and the local communities to ensure that we deliver a hospital that will serve patients to its fullest potential.”
BMG Medical Director Prof. Mark Redmond said: “We look forward to completing this state-of-the-art medical facility and believe that it will bring significant benefits to the local community.” The proposed facility has yet to get funding, which Beacon Medical Group said it was confident of getting once final contracts are signed off by the HSE and Department of Health and Children. |
